Environment Support Organizations and Government Policy

Environmentalism has long been associated with government. This is due to the necessity of people working together to preserve the living space that we share as a group. Not all environment organizations are directly associated with the government, but most try to influence governmental policy through lobbying efforts and related activities.

Recently, environmental policy has garnered national attention and become one of the primary issues in political campaigns. As the consequences of climate change and depleting energy stores have impacted the day-to-day lives of the American people, political leaders have been driven to address these issues with viable solutions. The issues have risen to the level of the federal government and become one of the "hot topics" of the 2009 Presidential Election. The emphasis governmental leaders in American and in other parts of the world have placed on environmental concerns prove that such issues are serious and should be dealt with accordingly and urgently.

The efforts to make people more aware of the environment initially started with a small but consistent momentum courtesy of several environmental groups that lobbied for more environment-friendly laws and policies to alleviate the negative effects of the irresponsible use of resources and the apathy that people have generally had toward the Earth’s condition. These organizations include famous activists and lobbying groups such as Greenpeace and the Sierra Club. They also include international commissions such as the Commission for Environmental Protection (NAFTA) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

This section of the website will cover agencies, groups, and governmental organizations with a stake in environmental protection and environmental affairs. Content will include profiles of the organizations, informational articles, editorial reviews, and related news.

Hues of Green Among Environmentalists

Environmentalists and green-advocacy groups have found diverse ways to advocate the earth's right to be respected and protected.
